Book Alternative

When The Holloway Literary Agency answered my query and made an offer to represent my book Chrome Pink, I was beyond excited. When Nikki Terpilowski told me they wanted to represent the whole book not just print or e-book but also film (be still my heart!), audiobook and even the possibility of a graphic novel. Wow! My book as a movie or television show, how thrilling. In truth it was the thought of a graphic novel that surprised and excited me. With sons with difficulty reading I know how important it is to them to have mature books that are easy to read.
I love to read it is an Olympic sport for me but only half of my six sons enjoy reading. Two of my sons suffer disabilities that make reading difficult. My youngest son, like my husband will read articles online but prefers to be active. For the other three reading is a pleasure but often takes second place to work and other obligations. For me I read if I have a free minute, in line at the grocery store or in the waiting room at the doctors office. I read if I’m early for a meeting or between customers at work. When I’m really busy I listen to audiobooks. When do you read? Would you read a graphic novel or listen to audiobooks?
As writers have you considered other alternatives to printed books or e-books? How about companion books? Have you considered a coloring book or cookbook with pictures and recipes inspired by your work? For me a graphic novel is a must, I know a couple of people who’ll get them for Christmas!
