Reading for a Cure!

Read romance and help researchers find a cure for cancer.

We have all been affected by cancer. Just saying the word cancer makes me cringe. Thankfully, because of continued research, hearing the word cancer in a diagnosis is not an automatic death sentence anymore.

Breast cancer is the second most common cancer among women in the United Stages. Women of color, especially black women are more likely to die of breast cancer.

Most breast cancers are found in older women, age fifty and older, but breast cancer also attacks younger women.

The mammogram is still the best way to detect breast cancer. New studies suggest women thirty to forty get a baseline mammogram done, while most doctors don’t suggest them until the patient is forty or older. But early detection is the best way to win the fight against cancer.

Breast cancer also affects men. Although rare, 1 out of 100 breast cancer diagnosis is a male.

Genetic counseling is suggested for those who have a family history of breast cancer.

Contact your doctor for more information. Have a mammogram regularly. http://www.cancerresearch.org
