— Death Unscripted is the first novel in a new series by M K Graff. This cozy mystery is quick paced, delightfully fun with a roster of interesting characters. Trudy Genova is witty and charming. Her job as a medical consultant for a movie studio plays a large part of the story. A mystery lover, Trudy believes herself an amateur sleuth. When a co-worker ends up murdered she becomes a suspect and must clear her name. With sexy detectives Ned O’Malley and Tony Borelli, Trudy and her best friend Meg find their investigation complicated by the two policemen.
I was stumped as to the identity of the true murderer right up to the very end. M K is great about throwing out red herrings sprinkled with real clues leading the reader on a merry chase. Following Trudy and friends through the streets of New York, looking behind the scenes of a soap opera and getting a taste of Trudy’s world was so much fun. I enjoyed the location of the story as much as the characters.
Each chapter along the way Trudy’s personality is revealed and back story disclosed, with each new piece I discover she is someone I’d like to know. Her past and present is interesting and layers another flavor to this delicious story.
If you love cozy mysteries or like to know what goes on behind the scenes of television programs and movies, Death Unscripted is a great choice!
