As the old song said, “I grew up of dreaming, of being a cowboy and loving the cowboy ways…”
I grew up watching cowboy movies and listening to country western music. I believed in the cowboy code, that true cowboys weren’t just guys who rode horses. From my neighbors who raised horses and cattle, to the long-distance drivers and musicians, cowboys were a different breed. As I traveled from North Carolina to Wyoming, I met rodeo riders turned construction workers, ranchers, farmers, and horseshow men and women each with their own version of the cowboy code.

Writing my story for the cowboy anthology, my idea was to live up to that cowboy code. I know not all cowboys wear white hats, and just because a guy wears cowboy boots doesn’t make him a cowboy. Writing Jerico’s story, I wanted him to be the good guy but with a bit of a rough life.
Growing up in a home for orphaned boys, Jerico had a lot of anger. His life turned around when he rescued an animal and was offered a job at a local stable. There he discovered his passion for animals and dreamed of one day owning a ranch with his brothers.

Jerico, the Carolina Cowboy is one of twelve international contemporary cowboy stories of romance and spice.
