Several things inspired Rockstar on the Run. I love shows like The Voice and Americas Got Talent. I’m a sucker for the underdog and second chances. Plus I love my small town. While I have created a fictional town, it is still a love story for my hometown. Small towns are great places filled with wonderful people and they can also be stifling and difficult. Rockstar on the Run is about running away from the difficult parts of life like a parent dying of cancer and feeling betrayed by loved ones, but it is also about running to your dreams. Later, Cypress runs away from the problems in his career and runs back home to what was familiar and comfortable only to discover you can’t outrun yourself. 

It is about growing up, which we’ve all had to do, some not as gracefully as others. It is about taking accountability and being brave enough to face the hard times and allow yourself to be vulnerable. 

Until we can be a successful partner we first must learn to be strong on our own. Using these life lessons to show that happiness is possible but it takes effort.
