Creating Your Joy

Let’s face it, sometimes, okay, a lot of times, life is hard. That lie we were told as children, you know the one…”You can do whatever you want when you’re an adult.” Yeah, right. You can do whatever you want as long as it’s go to work, do the laundry and pay the bills. I want to go back to being a kid when all I had to worry about making good grades and hanging out with my friends.

While I can’t go back in time, I can still create my happy place. For a creative person having a place to create is as important as having a comfortable place to rest. For us, whether we’re writers, artist, cooks, or hobbyist, that little corner where we can do our thing is our haven. When we go without creating it is like a dark cloud covering our soul. It is important to use that part of our brain, to allow our imagination freedom.

Writing feeds my soul, it gives me joy, but I’ve learned that crafting with my grandchildren or going to paint and sips with friends can also give me that creative high. If you’re a creative person or if you are looking for a little something to stretch your imagination give yourself time to be creative. Explore a new hobby, who knows, you might find your passion or a new business opportunity. Maybe we can make that phrase come true and we can really do what we want to do!
